A look back at the 2025 harvest at Château de Portets
The Vintage 2025 Château de Portets promises to be one of the most promising in recent years in the Graves. In a Testimony published by the Union Girondine, Marie-Hélène Yung-Théron, owner of the family estate for three generations, shares her first impressions of this demanding harvest season, rich in lessons learned, marked by a very hot August and late-September rains.

A vintage that generates great expectations
Accompanied during a weekend by her son Charles Yung, a young agricultural engineer graduated from ESA in Angers, Marie-Hélène Yung-Théron describes a structured, powerful and elegant vintage:
«2025 could certainly surprise with its finesse and intensity. The reds have a very promising profile, structured and powerful, with elegant tannins. The grapes, although small, show remarkable maturity. Already, we are talking about a Big Five, on par with the great vintages of 2005 and 2015.»
Despite declining volumes, the quality is up to par
The quantities harvested are sharply down this year, both for the red varieties (26 hectares) and for the white ones (4 hectares). This decrease is mainly due to the summer weather conditions. Marie-Hélène explains:
«On the white side, volumes are down by 50 %%. They are very rich, with a beautiful balance. Their freshness has been preserved, and their rarity makes them hidden gems.»
Thus, the saying «August makes the wine» It turned out to be true: the heat of August favored the concentration of berries, while the rains of September arrived too late to affect the harvest, which took place from August 26 to September 20.
Promising vats and a bright profile
At this stage, as the alcoholic fermentation is coming to an end, the first vats already reveal a great promise. According to Marie-Hélène:
«The release will confirm the balance and volumes, but everything indicates that this will be a balanced, intense and luminous vintage.»
We thank the Union Girondine for this publication and for their support of the winemakers of Bordeaux.
In conclusion, this Vintage 2025 Château de Portets, demanding but generous, fully embodies our commitment to wines of character, balance and elegance.
