Marie-Helene Yung-Theron takes great care of the natural setting of Château de Portets. She wishes to protect its wild beauty and has therefore chosen a style of vine growing and wine making that ensure the highest respect for the environment.
Since 2017, Château de Portets is committed in an Environmental Management System (SME), led by the Conseil Interprofessionnel des Vins de Bordeaux (CIVB). In 2024, the domain was labelled Haute Valeur Environnementale (High Environmental Value) level 4, and is constantly improving to reach a higher rank in the classification.
This commitment implies a responsible and sustainable management of the castle’s activities, respecting its employees, neighbours and local ecosystem.
In practical terms, it means :
Monitoring energy consumptions
Selective waste sorting
A wastewater treatment system
Agricultural practices inspired by agro-ecology principles
Our environmental commitment is voluntary. It follows the initiatives that Chateau de Portets already implemented such as:
The tilling of the soil
The grass cover in the vineyard
The use of biocontrol products (natural animal, vegetal or mineral substances that stimulate the immune system of the plants).
