BEST OF WINE TOURISM

Best of Wine Tourism 2024

Following a first award in 2017, Château de Portets has once again been elected Best of Wine Tourism in 2024 in the “Architecture and Landscape” category.

Ideally located on the banks of the Garonne river, Château de Portets offers the perfect blend of vineyards, wine, heritage and landscapes.

This ancient fortified castle is a unique architectural heritage with a rich history, from the Romans who planted the first vines to the arrival of Napoleon in 1808. Many visitors come to Château de Portets to discover this rich history.

What’s more, Château de Portets is promoting slow tourism through a committed approach to low-carbon tourism with its “Port on the Vine” trail, in collaboration with La Bulle Verte, also a Best of Wine Tourism 2024 winner. It’s an additional experience that adds to Château de Portets’ already extensive wine tourism offer.

The awards ceremony took place on October 9th, 2023 at the Bordeaux Gironde Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in the presence of local personalities including Pierre Hurmic, Mayor of Bordeaux, and distinguished foreign guests representing the Capitals of Great Wineries (Porto, Verona and Bilbao), as well as Porto’s “Best Of International 2023” winner, Quinta Quanta Terra Douro.

Having already won an award in 2017 in the same category, Marie-Hélène Yung and her team still achieve a high level of quality in welcoming tourists and work constantly to find innovative ways of presenting the local heritage. This new label, which is a guarantee of quality on the national and international scene, is simply the result of their ongoing ambition to bring the vineyard and its appellation to life for a growing audience.
