CHÂTEAU DE PORTETS AWARDED “BEST OF WINE TOURISM 2024”
IN THE ARCHITECTURE AND LANDSCAPES CATEGORY
At the awards ceremony held on October 09 at the Bordeaux Gironde Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Château de Portets was rewarded for its efforts in developing its wine tourism offer.
In the presence of local personalities, including Pierre Hurmic, Mayor of Bordeaux, and distinguished foreign guests representing the Capitals of Great Wineries (Porto, Verona and Bilbao), and Porto’s “Best Of international 2023” winner, Quinta Quanta Terra Douro, Château de Portets has been awaraded in the ARCHITECTURE AND LANDSCAPES category.
Already awarded in 2017 in the same category, Marie-Hélène Yung and her team still achieve a high level of quality in welcoming tourists and finding innovative ways of presenting the local heritage. This new label, which is a guarantee of quality on the national and international scene, is simply the result of their ongoing ambition to bring the vineyard and its appellation to life for an ever-growing audience, with a significant proportion of foreign tourists representing over 50% by 2023.
BETWEEN HISTORY AND EMOTIONS
Ideally nestled on the banks of the Garonne, Château de Portets offers the ideal combination of vineyard, wine, heritage and river. This ancient fortified castle is a unique architectural heritage with a rich history. From the Romans who planted the first vines, to the arrival of Napoleon in 1808, many visitors have opened the doors of Château de Portets since the beginning of the year to discover its history.
What’s more, since 2023, Château de Portets has been promoting slow tourism via a committed low-carbon tourism approach with its “A port on the vine” itinerary, in collaboration with La Bulle Verte, also a Best of Wine Tourism 2024 winner. An additional experience that complements Château de Portets’ already extensive wine tourism offer.
