Château de Portets ranks among the «Best of Wine Tourism 2024» in the architecture and landscapes category
During the trophy presentation ceremony held on October 9th at the Bordeaux Gironde CCI premises, Château de Portets was rewarded for its efforts in developing its constantly evolving wine tourism offering.
In the presence of local personalities, including Pierre Hurmic, Mayor of Bordeaux, and foreign guests representing the Capitals of Great Wine Regions (Porto, Verona and Bilbao), or even the winner of the «Best of international 2023» award in Porto, Quinta Quanta Terra Douro, Château de Portets won a prize in the category ARCHITECTURE AND LANDSCAPES.
Having already been awarded in 2017 in the same category, Marie-Hélène Yung and her teams continue to maintain a level of quality in the authentic welcome of tourists and the innovative way of presenting the local heritage. This new label, which is a guarantee of quality on the national and international scene, is only the result of the continued ambition to bring the vineyard and its appellation to life for an ever-growing audience, with a significant proportion of foreign tourists representing more than 50% in 2023.
Between history and emotions
Ideally located on the banks of the Garonne, the situation of Château de Portets offers an optimal combination of vineyard, wine, heritage and river. This former fortress constitutes a unique architectural heritage with a rich history of anecdotes. From the Romans who planted the first vines to Napoleon’s arrival in 1808, many visitors have entered the doors of Château de Portets since the beginning of the year to discover its history.
Furthermore, since this year the Château de Portets has been promoting slow tourism through an engaged approach to low-carbon tourism with its «A Port on the Vine» tour, in collaboration with the Bulle Verte, which is also a winner of the Best of Wine Tourism 2024 award. This additional experience adds to the already well-rounded wine tourism offer of the Château de Portets.
